Lia Dostlieva: Why do we need to talk about decolonisation?

Lia Dostlieva (geb. in Donetsk, Ukraine) ist Künstlerin, Kulturanthropologin und Essayistin. Künstlerisch und wissenschaftlich beschäftigt sie sich mit kollektiven Traumata, Dekolonialismus sowie dem Handeln und der Sichtbarkeit vulnerabler Gruppen. Auf Englisch hält sie im Rahmen des art/science-Festivals einen Vortrag zur Dekolonisierung:

The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine marked a pivotal shift in public discourse, amplifying discussions about the colonial nature of Russia’s wars and its general stance towards former “post-Soviet” countries. Simultaneously, a vibrant conversation about decolonisation and decolonial processes has been unfolding within Ukrainian society. Now, more than 1,000 days into the full-scale war, what can we say about the current state and potential future of the decolonial debate? Is decolonial analysis truly applicable to the former “post-Soviet” space, and what does it entail? Moreover, how can German society and a broader international audience engage in this dialogue?
